Almost 100

I've almost reached the 100 mark with my lenses at Squidoo.  After 2 years lensmaking, I'm finally getting there.

Once I make over 100 lenses I plan to start focusing on blogging and creating niches.

After being very scatter brained, and not being able to decide on a niche I now have three.

Penguins, coloring, and "for children" lenses.

These three niches are lenses that I enjoy making, and also seem to do well for me.

In January and February, I will spend my time refining my niches and creating a web presence on all three.  I'll also be fine tuning all of my lenses and challenging myself to do everything that people tell you to do with regards to SEO and marketing.

I know what I should be doing, however I'm not doing it ... yet.

Viking History and Archaeology for Kids

My two newest pages are Archaeology for Kids and Viking History for Kids.

After seeing how well my Eiffel Tower for Kids page has done, and how much I enjoy updating it and seeking out good resources, I decided to try a few more educational resource pages.  I chose Viking History because I discovered that it may do well after doing some keyword research.  I chose the archaeology page because while researching my page on Vikings, I found some great Archaeology sites.

If frequently create pages this way, while researching one I get ideas for another.  Of course while doing the archaeology page I became fascinated with all of the different types of archaeologist there are.  I learned quite a bit.

One thing that really struck me was how much of the information stuck with me while I was doing research.  I've gone over Viking history while homeschooling my kids, and we have a lot of resources at home, but once I finish a project I seem to forget it.  While organizing my Viking History resource page for kids, I discovered that things were sticking.  I was remembering timelines, details of Viking life, and so on.  It would seem that creating a lens is a great way for kids to learn about a topic.  I'm going to be suggesting it to my kids.  My youngest is doing a project on ancient Rome, and again, while we have a lot of resources, creating a squidoo page might just make the information stick.

The Page Break Module on Squidoo

Today I updated my Eiffel Tower lens with a page break.

I've been wanting to test this module for a while but wasn't sure how.  I've included a page break at the end of the lens and then added Eiffel Tower Posters.  I don't know if I will keep this, but I'm just seeing how it will work.

It's incredibly easy.  Much easier than I thought it would be.

I've also been making some updates to my Eiffel Tower for Kids page, and I am trying to see what I can do with my Little Blue Fairy Penguins.  It's a lens that I love, and I would really like to see it do better.  Maybe I will try the page break module on that once I see how it goes on my Eiffel Tower Lens.

I can also see the benefit of using it on my Eiffel Tower for Kids page, maybe have games on a second page if I can find enough.

The page break module is only a few months old and I've seen it used successfully on a number of lenses, but I'm not sure that I like the tabs at the top of the page, they don't stand out very well.

For now I will just keep testing and see how it goes.
